Ryan luvs sushi

Last summer I went to Hawaii with my boyfriend Ryan. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on and I wish we could have spent the entire summer there. During the trip, every meal was my favorite meal. Every morning Ryan would come wake me up and I would quickly get changed and we would race to the buffet. We would create our own omelets and yogurt parfaits and shove donut holes down our throats. Ryan would try to order sushi but they weren’t serving it until lunch. I’ve never seen someone eat more sushi than Ryan. The sushi in Hawaii was so fresh and delicious. I’m not a huge raw fish fan but Ryan has gotten me to begin to enjoy it. This picture is of Ryan proudly holding his sushi. Don’t ever put soy sauce on his sushi or he will freak out and put wasabi in your eyes. Comment if you have ever had wasabi in your eyes, I bet it was painful and difficult to see for years.

Hot Doggity Dog

I love hotdogs!!! Although they are probably one of the most disgusting foods and extremely unhealthy, they reside in a special corner of my heart. I especially love Costco dogs, if you are interested in taking me on a date, take me to the Costco food stand because it’s bomb as heck. A magnificent day was when I got the opportunity to go to a football game with Mary. We spent over twenty bucks on hot dogs. A key factor of hotdogs are the condiments. I love ketchup and am extremely satisfied with just ketchup on my hot-dog. However, I will not complain if there is some mustard incorporated into the cute little bun. Hot dog buns are very crucial, a stale bun can really ruin the whole package. There’s nothing like a good hot dog with the perfect amount of ketchup and a sweet, fresh bun. Please God, shower me with hotdogs and never show me the video on how they are made again. I would pay fair amounts of money to never have learned the horrors of what such little beauties come from. Comment if you like hotdawgs!!!!

Hot Spots

Here in Santa Barbara there are many good spots to hit for a quick lunch, and because our school allows for off campus lunch it is easy to drop a good 30$ a week on lunch. Some of my favorite places to go around town would definitely have to be Panino,De Vine, and the classic Trader Joe’s. Most people would say that Trader Joe’s is not a good place for a quick lunch, but I would say walking out of there with a bag of cheese puffs and a four pack of juice squeeze for under 10$ is the way to go. But, indulging in a Julius at De Vine is one of my favorite lunches. Although this amazing toasted sandwich is not on the menu, practically everyone at Santa Barbara High School knows about it. It consists of toasted sourdough bread, roasted turkey, avocado, mustard, lettuce, cheese, and the most important piece to this sandwich is the Cranberry Sauce. I know what you all are thinking, cranberry sauce on a sandwich, but how could anything with cranberry sauce NOT be good. Aside from sandwiches they have salads, smoothies, and other delicious choices. Check these restaurants out next time you are in need for a lunch!

Final MAD Lunch

demon sending texts to satan

When the realization that MAD lunch is near hits, my spine tingles. Free, delicious food with cute, smiley Moms serving… Who could ask for more? This lunch was pizza, salad, and ice cream; a pizza party. Sometimes I imagine all the kids breaking out into song and making a music video. I think of us singing “Food Glorious Food” from the musical “Oliver Twist”.  Click here to have a song stuck in your head for the rest of the week. The race for the lunch line would make someone think we haven’t eaten in days. A special addition to the pizza, salad, and ice cream was the tempura broccoli. When it was first served on my plate I thought it was popcorn chicken, but when I looked closer, it was a little fried green ball. The little guy was kinda cute and I was sad to eat him but he was surprisingly delicious.

Friday Lunch

Friday Lunches are always fun, talking about weekend plans and eating good food really brings my spirits up. Today I went to Silvergreens with Nikki, Lexi, and Dane. We also met up with Mary, Olivia, and Veronica but they didn’t end up staying as the line was too long. Silvergreens is fast and easy but a little overpriced. The sandwiches add up to around $9 and I would way rather have Panino for that price. Silvergreens is a great place to go with friends because there are many different options on the menu. The salads and soups are super good so it’s a good idea to get a half&half. On your receipt you can see your calorie and nutrition facts which is kinda depressing but helpful if you’re watching your weight. You also get a coupon for either a side of fries, drink, gym pass, etc. Check out Silvergreens the next time you are looking for a new lunch spot!

Rusty’s Pizza is the Pizza for You&Me

Rusty’s Pizza, a local pizza parlor, is another restaurant that beholds a special place in my heart and childhood memories. I’ve been eating this delicious greasiness for as long as I can remember. Rusty’s is the pizza I ate at every birthday party, school party, slumber party, every kind of party. I’ve also had the phone number memorized since I learned my own home number (805) 564-1111. For under $30 (including tip if you’re a good samaritan), you can get a large pizza with toppings and a six pack of cokes (I also add sides of ranch). This may seem expensive for greasy pizza, but it’s delivered in 30 minutes in the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to drive and pick it up, just be somewhat presentable to the pizza man. Whether you’re throwing a superbowl party or just depressed and binge eating, pick up the phone and dial up Rusty’s, they won’t let you down.

Here’s a clip from Spongebob that excites me for pizza:

Sandwich Fixings

Last night I was craving a BLTA (bacon lettuce tomato avocado sandwich), unfortunately the only place that serves a sandwich after 4 in Montecito is Von’s. When I got to Von’s I realized I only had five dollars so I just bought turkey and decided to get creative at home. Warning: this is not a BLT. I toasted a piece of my favorite bread, Milton’s, then smeared avocado on it. I then layered fresh, thin turkey, and slathered some mayo and mustard on it. I took a bite and realized it lacked a little flavor, so I sliced a perfect little tomato and finished with a sprinkle of garlic salt. For a lower calorie sandwich, I left out the top piece of bread. Surprisingly I save around 200 calories by leaving out the piece and using less mayo and mustard. I’m a huge sandwich fan, one of my favorites being a BLT. I don’t have the patience to cook two pieces of baking for my sandwich though (I’m against microwaved bacon). If my steps were not appealing to you, hopefully this website will inspire you to make a BLT!

Grilled Cheese &Tomato Soup, A Dynamic Duo

I don’t know who created the beautiful duo of tomato soup and grilled cheese, but they are an inseparable pair. Whenever I’m sick, my mom brings in a tray with a cup of soup and grilled cheese. Last night, she knew I wouldn’t like the dinner she made it for me. My favorite place to get the dynamic duo is Nordstrom’s Cafe. For a great price of $5.50, you get a grilled cheese, cup of tomato bisque, grapes, chips, and fresh lemonade. I am not a fan of Campbell’s canned soup, I actually can’t stand the tomato soup. Weird how I hate one type of tomato soup, yet Nordstrom’s tomato soup is one of my favorite foods. If you want to get extra creative, try making your own tomato soup. Unless you’re only recipe is cereal, I’m sure you know how to make a grilled cheese. Here’s a recipe, start cooking now!

MAD for Mad Lunch

Each second Wednesday of the month is a very special Wednesday. Not is Monday and Tuesday over, it’s also late start. If you’re a part of the MAD academy, Wednesday is even cooler. The special event that occurs is the MAD lunch. Even the VADA kids try to swoop in on our delectable delights. The bell rings and it’s a stampede, few deaths have a occurred, many cases of shin splints. RIP to those weaklings who probably didn’t have a good breakfast or didn’t have any protein from skipping the last MAD lunch. If you skip the lunch you are probably a tool and shouldn’t go to school. This weeks lunch was a bitchin burrito bar followed by a suave sundae setup. If you’re not a part of the super sick society of MAD you should pay members to be your friend in hopes their coolness will rub off on you. Here’s the link to the website if you want to drool over beautiful people. Check out my photos of my friends and ice cream, which is also my friend.

Shout out to the Moms who slave for us and provide us with feasts of freakin’ fantastical food.

Big Alex Takes a Trip to Little Alex’s

Little Alex’s will always have a special place in my heart. Honestly most of the food sucks but that doesn’t stop me from going. Maybe because I always considered it my restaurant, or maybe because I saw a dead body outside of it, or maybe because I’m bewildered by the flat screen that they only show one image of a apple fritata on. Anyways, Little A’s may have disappointing burritos, but they do make a pretty bombassdankass taco salad. I constantly crave this ranch drenched pit of deliciousness, but I am often disappointed. Calling it a salad is an embarrassment to all actual salad eaters, so I’ll just call it a mush pot because it basically turns to mush in a plastic container after two minutes. The mush starts out as tortilla chips layered with beans and rice then topped with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, avocado, and your type of meat (go with chicken). I think the beans are to blame for the sogginess. If you ever wander in there and find yourself ordering the taco salad (mush pot), I suggest ordering it with beans on the side. That way it won’t soggify too quickly (yes I know soggify isn’t a real word). Go in, try it, comment below on your opinion.
