Finally… Some Music to Lighten Your “Moud”

When asked to choose a topic for blogs, the two things that came to mind were music and food. I attempted to combine the two but got too lazy and just ended up making a cooking blog. The past couple of weeks I’ve been perfecting playlists for summer activities. These songs are vital for summer mornings, beach afternoons, driving, dancing, watching the sun rise, and a few that are appropriate for sleep. One artist that comes up abundantly is Disclosure. Most songs are appropriate for all summer activities, maybe not sleeping though. Disclosure has really perfected a sound of pure feel-good music that everyone . I tend to catch myself tapping my foot on the accelerator; when your foot can’t stop tapping you know you’re listening to something good. Disclosure is a British electronic band consisting of two brothers. This duo have a talent that should be shared with everyone. A very popular song by them is “Latch” which I enjoy but I feel is a bit overplayed now. I’m currently listening to “White Noise” and “When a Fire Starts to Burn” these are constantly played in my car as my passengers know and appreciate. Check out Disclosure to add some happiness and rhythm to your summer playlist!

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

It was a rough morning at my grandpa’s house, the morning after he passed away the phone would not stop ringing. No one had eaten because they were constantly answering phone calls. I decided to cheer everyone up by making pancakes. My mom actually did most of the work because I was laying on the couch but I added chocolate chips and flipped the cute little cakes. I don’t really like pancakes but I like to make them and watch people eat them. I also enjoy the smell of the kitchen, it’s a good start to a morning. I’ve never made pancakes from scratch, I usually just use bisquick powder. Thanks to pinterest, I found a recipe that looks well worth the extra time and clean up. Click here to check out the website, sorry if you’re on a diet. While you’re cooking, click here to listen to “Not Giving In” by Rudimental. This song puts me in a great mood and gives me an instant energy boost. The music video is unexpected for the song but you’ll most likely end up watching it a couple times. Comment below if you test out the pancake recipe!

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 cups buttermilk
1-1/2 cups chocolate chips

Treats For Your Valentine

If your valentine is anything like mine, the way to their heart is through food. Whenever I fight with my boyfriend, he returns with a burrito or blenders and I’m immediately in a better mood, it’s almost annoying. For Valentine’s Day, all my boyfriend wants is a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Tonight I am going to challenge my cooking skills and attempt to make homemade cookie dough ice cream for him. I found the recipe on pinterest as always, check it out here.  Just incase things go terribly wrong, I am baking backup treats to present with my gift. I’m planning on making Nutella banana cream pie cookies.. I’ve never had them or even heard of them but the title contains two of my favorite things. Check out the recipe here! Follow up on tomorrows blog post to find out my results!

What better way to set the lovely mood for Valentine’s day than to listen to Frank Sinatra? Listen here!

Make Your Own Healthy Ice Cream! (Quick and Easy)

For all those prepping for your bikini bod, here’s a delicious dessert to satisfy cravings without the guilt! I came upon this ice cream recipe on stumble upon and couldn’t resist. It’s extremely easy and quick to make. The hardest part is staying patient while it freezes. The recipe requires no dairy so it’s great for lactose-intollerants, it’s also low in sugar! If you have popsicle trays, make popsicles, kids love this healthy treat! Bananas are good for your heart, blood, nerves, etc. Although high in calories, peanut butter fills you up fast due to the fiber and protein.

Ingredients: 4 ripe bananas, 2 tbsps creamy peanut butter, 2 tsps cocoa powder

Process: Slice and freeze the bananas, put them in a food processor, when banana begins to look like whipped cream add cocoa and peanut butter, freeze until firm, eat and enjoy!

Optional additions: chocolate chips, raspberries, toffee, marshmallows, milk

While making this delicious dessert, I listened to Manhattan (Ryan Hemsworth Remix), check it out!

Pumpkin Bread (aka “Heaven”)

Last night I spent about two hours on pinterest exploring recipes. I found a website full of delicious bread recipes which just happen to be my weakness. Whether it’s zucchini, pumpkin, banana, or amish bread I love them all. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to sleep without gifting myself a little slice of sweet, moist, deliciousness; so I got in my car, cranked up the tunes, and headed to the market to pick up some ingredients. On my way, I played Give Me One Reason (Tailors Remix), a funky jam that always gets me tappin’ on the steering wheel and bobbing my head. Every once and a while I get in the baking mood but this was the first of many breads I hope to make.

I will definitely be using and recommending this recipe again, it was divine.
